PERSONALITY
Lydia Van Helsing is far from shy. She's always looking to get out there and have some fun or make her mark on the world, having a tendency to leap before she looks. She's a very good friend to have though thanks to her being loyal and outgoing. Lydia is very helpful and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. She has a good heart and spirit, sometimes worrying more for others than she really should. She's fair and open minded, but far from stupid. She knows how to handle herself in all sorts of situations. She can be a little guarded sometimes when it comes to her past and for good reason. This young woman has a certain ability for figuring things out and it's hard to get things by her. She can sniff out a lie from a mile away, though she won't always call someone out on lying.

CHARACTER HISTORY
Lydia was born a pure blooded witch to a lovely young couple who at the time, loved each other very much. Over the years though, things have a tendency to change and sometimes, things change for the worst which is exactly what happened to the Van Helsings. This change started when it became clear that Christopher was a Death Eater. Things got worse. He was quick to anger, sometimes beating his wife and child, and he wasn't home as much. It was like something inside of him had changed. He had been twisted and morphed into an evil being and his wife and child could only take so much of this.
For a while, Evelyn stayed with her husband out of fear and because every once in a while, she would see a glimmer of fear in his eyes. He was afraid of losing them to a greater power, but he never considered that he might lose them because of himself. By the time Lydia was eight years old, her mother was pregnant with her second child and she was ready to flee in the hopes of a better, less fearful life. Plenty of witches and wizards throughout the world were going into hiding and so they did too, leaving Christopher behind.
By the time the war was over and it was safe to come out of hiding, Evelyn and Lydia didn't even want to know what had become of Christopher. Evelyn changed her name back to her maiden name, and, after finding out that her husband was in Azkaban for his crimes, filed for a divorce. Lydia and her newborn sister however, kept their last name... mostly because of their grandmother who, even though she was a nasty old hag, still supported them in some ways. She claimed that she wouldn't have a Van Helsing out there, defiling her good name by walking around in rags.
The girls were always taken care of, and relied less upon their grandmother after their mother opened up a shop. At least once a year though, the girls were forced into their best clothes and made to sit in that cold, dark, old mansion with their grandmother for dinner.
When Lydia was eleven, she finally got to go to Hogwarts, something she had been dreaming about for years. Finally, she could put her magic to the test and that's exactly what she did as a [house will go here] student. She loved every year at Hogwarts, playing Quidditch and making friends. By the time she got out, she knew exactly what she wanted to be... an Auror.
She had plenty of reasons for wanting to be an auror, a few of them stemming back to her own past, so sh went forth with the necessary requirements and went through with the proper training until she got what she wanted.

RP SAMPLE (copied and pasted from a different forum)It was early on in the night and the city was alive, people going out to dinner and driving everywhere, young couples going out to bars or clubs or singles heading out to find a chance at some love. A storm was on the way and in the living room of her apartment, a gorgeous red head could hear the sound of the weather man talking about a thunder and lightning and possibly a flood warning for that night and her sister mumbling about there being nothing on TV. Then again, that's what happened when you couldn't afford cable. Their TV was a piece of crap anyway.
Lydia didn't care about this at the moment though. The last thing on her mind was the damn TV. She was sitting on the bed in her bedroom, silently fighting with herself, her head in her hands, fingers weaved through her red, silky waves. The sound of the traffic outside seeped in through her boarded up windows, but she had become use to this by now. Finally making up her mind, Lydia got to her feet and grabbed a slip of paper off of her night stand. She was going... She just couldn't bare it anymore. It didn't matter how pissed off Alex would be... it was better for him to be pissed off then to be truly dead. In an instant, Lydia had zoomed out of the apartment, not even closing the door in her haste, while her sister just looked up with a confused look...
A little while later, Lydia was standing outside of a big house on the edge of the city, bordering the lake and forest. She was doing her best to shield herself from her creator, not wanting him to know how she was feeling at the moment or what she was up to. And honestly, she was scared to death. She didn't even want to admit this fear to herself let alone Alex.
Now, Lydia was a gorgeous girl. Tonight she wore a pair of tight jeans with fashionable rips and tears in them along with a pair of very cute wedges and a hot, white top with sleeves that came down off of her shoulders, completely exposing them. It was a tight top, fitting her perfectly and showing of her curves. She had on a white gold necklace with a circle pendant that stood for Love and it fell perfectly over her breasts. Her long, red hair was wavy and flowing freely down her back and over her shoulders.
Hesitating for a moment, she looked down at the slip of paper. This was the place... Feeling a little sick and... to be quite honest, a little ashamed, she made her way to the door, not rushing at all. Just as she was about to ring the doorbell, the door opened and there he was, looking so smug that the little, red headed vampire just wanted to punch him in the face. "I had a feeling you'd come to see me," he said, holding the door open for her and inviting her in. She could feel his eyes on her as she hesitantly entered his home.
Her eyes took it all in and what she saw didn't surprise her at all. The lavishness of his home suited him perfectly, rich and tasteful, but with an edge of darkness to it. It was almost medieval. She heard the sound of him locking the door and she turned to him, appearing more confident then she really felt. She opened her mouth to speak, but he was in front of her with his finger pressed to her soft lips. "Please, come in and sit for a little... get comfortable before we start with... business," he said with a smirk on his face.
He led her into another room, motioning for her to sit while he poured out two glasses of blood into wine glasses. "Here," he said, smiling and handing her a glass. "The god stuff, non synthetic." He had a twisted look on his face and Lydia didn't even want to think about what he had done to the "donor" of that blood. She took the glass though and took a sip from it. "Thank you," she said to him, not taking her eyes off of him. He made her so uneasy... she hated it.
"I must say, Lydia, you look truly... ravishing tonight," he said, his eyes scanning her body. "Can we just get to talking about "business" please?" she asked him, a disapproving tone to her voice. "Of course," he said as if he believed them getting down to "business" would lead to her getting down and dirty with him anyway. "I take it you've chosen your side?"
Lydia looked at him and set down her glass. She really had no appetite. "Not... exactly..." she said, averting her gaze. "Oh?" he said, sitting down in a black leather arm chair and sitting back. "Please, explain why you're here then..." Lydia bit her lip, thinking about Alex and whether or not she really wanted to do this. "I... want to make a deal with you," she explained, looking up at him, green eyes gleaming. He took her in, his eyes expectant like he was waiting for her to continue. So, naturally, she did, though with some reluctance in her voice.
"I don't want you to fight Alex..." He looked at her with curiosity. "And what do I get out of this if I don't fight Alexander?" he asked, cocking a brow at her. Lydia couldn't help but wince a little at his question, though she had been expecting it and she knew she had to answer. "Anything you want." He took her in and a wide smile crossed his face. "Anything I want?" he repeated, seeming to thoroughly like the thought of this idea. He looked at her with piggish eyes and she looked away, ashamed. She nodded her head, resisting the urge to cry. She was doing this to keep Alex safe.
Before she could say or do anything else, he was right in front of her, holding her chin gently. "I want you." She shuddered at his words, but not from pleasure... more from fear. Nodding her head, she tried to turn it, but her wouldn't let her. "And I mean I want all of you. Every inch of you. I want you to belong to me and not that scumbag." Lydia wrenched her face away from him and he let his hand drop. "Why do you hate him so much?" she asked him, her voice quiet and stressed. She didn't want to think about having sex with this creep, or following every cruel order he gave her, but if it stopped him from killing Alex... she would do anything to prevent something from happening to her creator. She couldn't even explain the feeling that washed over her whenever she thought about something happening to him.
Steven obviously didn't like her question and turned his back on her and drank more from his glass. "You wouldn't understand," he said stiffly. "I might," she said, watching him intently. He was silent for a moment. "It was a long time ago..." he started, clearly not happy about telling her. "Centuries ago. I came home to find my home in ruins. My entire family was gone." He went to stand by the window, looking outside as a flash of lightning streaked across the sky. Lydia listened with her slender brows knitting together, wondering what this had to do with Alex.
"I was on my own then and was changed not too long after. And then... I found her. My little sister was a gorgeous girl and I have to say, her personality was much like yours... so fiery and headstrong, ready to take on the world. But when I found her, she wasn't the sister I had once known. That sick son of a bitch had changed her. She was an abomination, a mere shadow of what my sister had been. And she enjoyed it... said she wanted to use her new abilities to find the men who had destroyed our home. She wanted it. So, I did what any man would do... I stuck a stake right through her heart."
Lydia got to her feet, appalled by this. "You killed your own sister?" she asked him, a horrified look on her face. "You've been furious with Alex all this time because you killed your sister?" Steven spun around to face her, a pissed off look on his face. "She was already dead, she was an abomination! A monster!"
"No!" Lydia said, pissed off now. "She didn't have to be, she didn't have to be a monster! She was the same as you! You're the abomination! You're the monster! Alex did nothing but help her and you claim it's his fault! YOU WERE THE ONE WHO PUT THE STAKE THROUGH HER HEART!" Her face snapped to the side, a stinging pain radiating through the side of her face and there was Steven, right in front of her, hand raising to hit her again, but she backed off. "ALEXANDER VARDEN MURDERED MY SISTER AND NOW IT'S TIME HE PAID FOR IT!" he screamed at her, furious.
"YOU KILLED YOUR SISTER! BEING A VAMPIRE DIDN'T MAKE HER A MONSTER! SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO DIE!" Lydia yelled back, not wanting to show him just how scared of him she was. "YOU CAN'T BLAME YOUR ACTIONS ON SOMEONE ELSE!" She could see the anger coursing through him and next thing she knew, she was on the floor with him over top of her, his hand around her throat. "Alexander is going to pay for what he did one way or another... and I know just how I'm going to make him pay now, thanks to you."
Lydia struggled under him, grabbing hold of his wrists. "How?" she asked him, angry and stressed as she struggled. He laughed and tightened his grip. "Alex took away something I love, so now It's finally my turn to take away something he loves." Fear shown in Lydia's eyes and she tried kicking him, but he just grabbed her leg and forced it back down. "Alex doesn't love me," she said to him, knowing what he was getting at. Steven shook his head at her and sighed. "Young ones are so naive and blind," he said, smirking. "Lydia, Lydia, Lydia... I've never seen Alex so attached to something... or someone. He may try to hide it, but it's just too obvious darling... It's all in his eyes. The way he looks at you. It's almost disgusting to be honest. He wants you more than he's ever wanted anyone, but he doesn't want to be weak. He doesn't want to be vulnerable..."
Lydia looked up at him, trying not to believe him. Alex didn't want her. That's just... not the way Alex was. He wasn't a one woman vampire. "You're lying," she said to him, trying to push him away. "Really? We'll just have to see then, won't we?" He pulled her up and went to drag her over to a door in the hallway, but she managed to elbow him in the stomach. Growling, his fangs shot out and he lunged at her, but she jumped out of the way, grabbing a nearby vase, breaking it over his head, making him scream. "Stupid bitch!" he yelled as she ran for the entry way. He tackled her to the ground by the legs, but she managed to get one leg free and kicked him right in the face, breaking his nose. Slipping free of him, she scrambled for the door and unlocked it, leaving it open as she ran out and away from this monster whose newest goal... was to kill her.
She didn't so much as look back as she ran. It was now pouring outside, the trees swaying fiercely from the strong wind. Every so often there was a bright flash of lightning in the sky followed by a roll of thunder. It was nasty out there, but so much better than being trapped in that house with Steven where he would do god only knows what to her.
When she got to where she was going, Lydia was soaking wet and you could now see her bra through her white shirt. Her hair was dripping wet and rain washed over her pretty face and the rest of her exposed skin. It was chilly outside, but that never bothered vampires and even if it did, it would still be the last thing on Lydia's mind as she pounded on Alex's apartment door, the sound urgent and loud. She was anxious, scared that Steven was out there in the rain, following after her. When Alex answered the door she looked right at him with those liquid green eyes which were a little wider, almost with shock. When he answered the door, she said only one thing. "I did something stupid."
